No one should trust a silent protagonist.

(This is probably not a remake of Final Fantasy I for the NES.)

The Inevitable Questions

1. Why did you make THIS game? At the conclusion of my first mission, I knew I couldn't just stop. I have seen a billion or so attempts at this project, but I also know this may be one of the only ones to succeed and finish.  This game was made entirely during the pandemic.

2. Is this a remake? Seriously?  First of all, the title is different!  The hero in the image looks like he has issues, and also, sports a nice-looking pipe and mustache.

3. Anything different? Again, totally original.  I'm sure this won't remind you of a particular game.

4. Is this a remaster? Anything I make can only ever be seriously considered an "unmaster" or a "demaster."

5. When will it be finished? It is finished. Go play it.

6. Is there a better Q&A I can consult? Nope.

7. Is this for sale? Nah, you can have it for free.

8. Why'd you pick blue for the sidebars? All for the sake of subliminal messaging.

9. What sidebars are you talking about? Turn your phone to landscape mode.

10. Will you update the game? When you find something game-breaking, let me know. I'll fix it. But, there are some intentional glitches.

11. Does this game have anything to do with your other gameYes. But if you didn't know about the other project, you would never know. It qualifies both as standalone and sequel, simultaneously.

While I applaud you efforts, I just thought I would inform you that someone has already remade FF1. It's called Final Fantasy H.

Not as "faithfully" though.

Thanks for the heads up.  I hadn't heard of H before, and being a huge FF fan, I'm just disappointed I didn't!  I'll see if I can get some time in the coming week to run through it.

Looking at the premise, it seems as if H and my project are actually different in more than a few ways.  As you said ("faithfully"), I am interested in getting the formulas down to the number.  Even the monster encounters, numbers (this won't ever be perfect because of engine limitations), and locations are as best as I can down to the same tile.

But, of course, those aren't the only differences.  My other project is a good example of what to expect - dialog switching options, some Meme Mode exclusives.  And, most importantly, MM-Wun is a stepping stone.

The main site that keeps FFH in down for some reason.

Here is a mirror to where you can nab the game. It's good fun.

Thanks!!  I'll take a look next week!  :D :D
