A downloadable terrible mistake for Windows and macOS

MacGuffins are sometimes much more than they seem...

(This is probably not a remake of Final Fantasy II US for the SNES.)

Real-Talk Features

  • Many attempts to be clever in terms of gameplay.
  • Most 16-bit algorithms in place, with the glitches from 1991 to go with them.
  • Lots of clever updates.
  • No try-hard areas.
  • Rated PG-13 by the MPA.
  • No balancing, at all.
  • Stunning RTP graphics!
  • A direct 1-to-2 philosophy.
  • Toggleable dialog and scenes between "Memes" and "Classic" - two completely different stories in one game, and they are very different

The Inevitable Questions

1. Why did you make THIS game?
At the conclusion of my second mission, I decided to work on the project that has always been lurking in my mind. With two cleared missions under my belt, it is time...

2. Is this a remake?
A remake of what?  Oh, that? Of course not. First of all, the title is different!  Secondly, the villain in the image is looking longingly at his favorite meme, probably.

3. Anything different?
From what? Oh, that? Yeah. A lot.

4. Is this a remaster?
What a silly idea: remakes that use RTP graphics. Anything I make can only ever be seriously considered an "unmaster" or a "demaster." But, there may be ideas that could be considered retoolings.

5. When will it be finished?
Don't hold your breath. The trailer says Summer 2022 -obviously I missed that deadline. But, progress is much farther along. There's even a demo out that takes you about two hours into the game.

6. Is there a better Q&A I can consult?
For what?

7. Is this for sale?
Nah, you can have it for free.

8. Why'd you pick that color for the sidebars?
Bad reasons.

9. What sidebars are you talking about?
Turn your phone to landscape mode.

10. Will you update the game?
Yes. Well, not the demo.

11. Does this game have anything to do with your other games
Yes. But if you didn't know about the other projects, you would never know. It qualifies both as standalone and sequel, simultaneously.

I hope you stay with this, the game has all the makings of being a real hoot.
GL with it.

:) Thanks! I completed my work on FFMQ and FF1, so I've proven I have the insanity part down. If you haven't tried them, you should. The first showcases my style of dialog. The second showcases my dedication to getting the algorithms right. This project will mix the two, hopefully. :) So far, progress is going great.

Okie, thanks for the heads up, I am playing something else right now but It is getting a little lame, so I am downloading Memeal Mantasy Wun.
Be prepared to answer stupid questions as I have never played a FF game in my life.
I did just play a fun fangame from  RPG maker dot net.
The story precludes FF1 by 400 years and so that tweaked my interest.
I read that they remastered the 1st 6 on Steam for PC and I may end up buying some if the price would drop some.
Good day to you and thanks again.

No problem. Any NES walkthrough will get you through, but I wholly recommend 2 Fighters, 1 Red Mage, and 1 Black Mage. It is very balanced.

And I just completed 1 & 2 on Steam myself. Those versions use the GBA and PSP as a base and switch out to the old magic system of the NES. In a lot of ways, mine is a bit more of an authentic remake from 1987. :)

Let me know what you think.

lol, well you got to me too late.
I already started with warrior, thief, wm and rm.
the game is going fun enough, I made it to elfland.
My only complaint so far is that I am unable to determine how much mana my crew has left.
I love the hand holder feature, I can get pretty gosh darn confused about what to do sometimes. lol
Thanks, I will get back to you next time I feel like raging.

Back to rage some more lol
That thief of mine, well I wanted a thief and she needed to be named her after my ex.
Anyhow, like her, about worthless, maybe later in the game but, well stuck with her for now I guess.
Also if my white mage can handle a wooden staff why can't she handle an iron one?
(Probably something sexual but still?)
I will be back with some more rages tomorrow, meanwhile the game is fun, a little grindy but I have played far worse.
I have been going through the towns on normal mode to catch the story and then changing to meme mode to see how much of a smartass you are.
Pretty much...
lol
PS. Who's face is that on those termite/ spider thingy's in the swamp cave?
Is it G.W? Crying Ryan on the Shadow critter?
I hope not.  lol

Elfland is the first major grind spot in the game. I recommend buying a few tents to save outside of the Marsh Cave - they let you save on the field. You mana left in battle is one of those compromises I had to work with, but you should be able to see how much is left on the main menu outside of battle.

And I'm glad you're liking the "hand-holder" feature. It should work fine through the whole game, but it's not completely tested. After the first elemental boss, the game becomes quite "open-world," so I made some adjustments to allow you to pick which way you want to go.  Let me know if it breaks - I can take a look.  :)
